Scafell Pike

17th August 2017

Scafell Pike in August was warm, sunny and busy! Although I did not think it was one of the most exciting walks, starting off at Wasdale Head Inn then wandering up into a very muddy sheep field, the ascent starts almost immediately! After getting a fair few hundred feet up the mountain the views just open out, looking across Wast Water.

Having done The Old Man of Coniston walk also, this was definitely my most favorable walks of the two. This had beautiful views, hardly any scrambles, not as high as Snowdon.

Drying off, warming up and filling my tummy with food at Wasdale Head Inn.

Staying in a little campsite nearby the base of the mountain overlooking the water was definitely motivation to get up and go and explore. After a long day of hiking up and down mountains a well deserved rest with chips and macaroni cheese was the best end to the day.

The little wood burning stove drying and warming coats and bags before the cold walk back to the tent was lovely.
